WE’RE MAKING: WARM CHIA PUDDING W/ HOMEMADE HEMP MILK

In the chill of winter, when comfort is necessary, what could be more soothing than a warm bowl of chia pudding made with homemade hemp milk? This isn't just a recipe; it's a nourishing ritual that you’ll return to morning after cold winter morning.

*Very important to note: this is one of Danielle’s go-to winter breakfasts :)

HOMEMADE HEMP MILK

Let's start with the hemp milk. If you've never made your own hemp milk, you're about to have your mind blown. It's surprisingly simple, and the result is a creamy, earthy milk that's both nourishing and sustainable.

INGREDIENTS:

+ 1 cup hemp seeds

+ 4 cups water

+ A pinch of salt

+ Optional: 1 - 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or a date for sweetness

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Combine hemp seeds and water in a blender. Add a pinch of salt and, if you like a hint of sweetness, some maple syrup or a date.

  2. Blend on high for about a minute, or until the mixture is smooth.

  3. Strain through a nut milk bag or a fine-mesh strainer into a container. Your hemp milk is ready!

warm chia pudding

Now, for the chia pudding. This isn't the cold chia pudding you might be used to. It's warming and perfect for those frosty mornings or as a comforting dessert.

INGREDIENTS:

+ 3 tablespoons chia seeds

+ 1 cup homemade hemp milk

+ A dash of cinnamon

+ Our go-to toppings have been: figs, blueberries, pumpkin seeds, granola, a generous drizzle of Activist Manuka Honey

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a small saucepan, gently warm the hemp milk over low heat. You're not looking to boil it, just to get it nice and warm.

  2. Add the chia seeds and a dash of cinnamon, stirring well.

  3. Keep the heat low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reaches a creamy consistency.

  4. Pour into a bowl, and add your favorite toppings. Think sliced bananas, a sprinkle of nuts, a few berries, or a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.

Et Voila! A warm, healing meal perfect for any winter moment.
